For example, bullying could result in someone wanting to become manlier or also to believe that doing 'man' things will make you more attractive to someone whose attention you seek etc... doesn't necessarily have to all be gay but I can totally envision cases like that being common. Issue is nobody really knows the root cause, not even the person because the driver of defense mechanisms is the subconscious
