I say that having skimmed half an article and seeing a statement to the effect of “users will have the choice to use mimblewimble or the traditional litecoin blockchain”
The gist of it is you can send your coins to the privacy chain and do whatever you want with them. Sell them on non kyc exchange off the private blockchain. Send them back to public chain, whatever
These things seem like they'll be dead soon to me
It is good that a crypto that has been around for years is putting a focus on privacy however the implementation of it being optional raises a lot of question that I doubt there are answers for, however I have not looked into it enough to say if they have answered those questions or not
Zcash also has the ability to choose between sending public and private transactions and this leads to issues where 99% of your transactions are public with 1% of users using the private transactions. When you do this and with the way creating private blockchains work you’re putting yourself at risk of being identified as the technology behind obfuscation of blockchain transactions is actually very complicated due to the nature of blockchains and needing to confirm send amounts from each sender
One terrorist organization funded through means of monero during an election season and its all over
No the private blockchain is probably not as private as you think and making it an opt in feature just means it’s going to be a small % of LTC transactions making the security of the system “Not As Good” as monero
Yeah maybe. I don't know anything about these chains
Twitter users have tracked zcash private transactions before for example due to this issue
I used to know what mimblewimble was and how it worked but it’s been years since I’ve been actually keeping up with this shit
is there a peepee poopoo coin yet
There are probably hundreds
this is great news
europol cannot track monero as long as that remains true monero will retain value
I want to short tesla
So fucking badly man
Monero has a lot of well thought out design choices beyond just anonymous transactions also
They truly develop that crypto with the ideological viewpoint of making it as decentralized as possible
Which is, you know, the point of crypto
Even forcing CPU mining was done to help decentralize the blockchain even though it stops people from just mining it with gpus and making money
No it is not the most user friendly of cryptos but it is truly ideologically the best when it comes to creating a digital decentralized cryptocurrency that cannot be controlled easily
It is the Linux of crypto and you guys are stuck on the Microsoft rent seeking treadmill of Microsoft office subscriptions and windows activation codes
In every decision taken, there are trade-offs. In Litecoin’s case, the trade-off for basic/light privacy (opt-in, MW) was made with the intent of being more exchange friendly — and being exchange friendly, also remain liquidity-friendly. On the other hand, a cryptocurrency that’s completely private in every way, shape and form faces a much higher risk of an exchange delisting. This increases the difficulty for people entering the space to gain access to the cryptocurrency.
Although MWEB provides basic privacy features, MWEB should not be used for illicit activities requiring an extreme amount of privacy due to the potential for transactions being linked together via sniffer nodes. There are other methods such as using services like CoinJoin prior to broadcasting a MW transaction to achieve a higher level of anonymity if one wishes to.
