emperorless amerifat

people react to those accusations in a similar way to an American over 45 being told that America mass raped okinawa. with absurd rationalizations, denial, or they just don't care.

hes right, japanese people are just people and theres no default increased level of respect

some people are respectful and some people are petty

essentializing narratives are often bullshitty

the city people are cold and two faced there and the country people are warm

just like other countries

randomly reminded me of this video

honestly who cares

one of the worst unintended consequences of the internet is it made judging random other parts of the world for random failings and unsavory realities a much more prevalent hobby

well I meant the culture not as if it’s something they are innately born with

im not judging it for happening im judging the weak spine in attempting mass delusion

yeah im saying even some of the cultural narratives are just too general and strikingly inaccurate when you meet some people (not respectful or honorable)

though yea theres less of a maverick culture where people question the masks and stuff

though id be surprised if that were entirely absent, just expect it to be a much smaller proportion

you can call it fake or whatever but at the end of the day I’d bet the cultural norms helped with covid

its literally a virus where you just have to respectfully wear a mask in the appropriate places and keep your distance

people wear masks for the common cold

im judging you either way

well yeah fair enough, that’s all stereotypes

im not claiming this is some insightful big brain take I was just musing

im sure it's similar in many studies but in history people who obfuscate or deny very credible evidence are basically just putting up a speedbump to save face. the internet do be changing that to a large degree but impressing historical fact on children(esp their own culture) is often harder for them to shrug off than say learning a new language or formula

my view on it is

countries with less issues with mask and distancing compliance etc

are just countries with less cultural distrust of the govts and authorities who recommend them

i hear deniers are big in italy too idk

most americans who refuse to wear masks and get vaccinated arent doing it because they fundamentally respect and honor people less

they're doing it because they literally believe it's a hoax and mass delusion

its really not a practical problem for the vast majority of japanese people that there is some level of downplaying of ww2 atrocities

i mean delusional nationalists are an ugly reality but theyre not especially an ugly reality compared w most other countries anyhow

i mean really if we're worried about east asia, china's victim complex is still totally out of control even though they were legitimately victimized really really badly

they're the ones likely to spark bad things happening over there next because of it tho

i have been to the hiroshima a-bomb memorial, the nagasaki a-bomb memorial, the rape of nanking memorial and museum, and Old Summer Palace - Wikipedia

of the four sites, the two japanese ones have a much more "and therefore we should be peaceful" and the two chinese ones have a "and therefore fuck japan and fuck the west" slant to the messaging

there's downplaying and then there's approaching outright denial. i mean every institution/government has its agenda and i've never been to japan but what i've heard 2nd hand is baby tier

not surprising considering we rocked them and they no longer have a capacity for aggression tbh

your perspective is still so ugly and judgmental lmao
