It's only mild to most people outside of risk groups. Some completely healthy young people do die.
Also a much bigger portion of healthy young people don't die but do take massive permanent brain damage, or become permanently exhausted to the point of disability.

except the studies directly state that it does prevent covid, it does reduce the likelihood of you spreading it, and as you said... reduces severity..
