Everything has variable levels of value to them and it’s almost never zero. defaulting to a binary view on it ot being pessimistic on the value people or ideas can provide only hurts your potential. Exchanging ideas is an inherent facet of life and a two way street. You can always ask better questions, be a better listener and ultimately derive some higher level of return than you get now.

Are we including work. I had a few embarrassing years with Zen Buddhism. And there are a lot of programming philosophy books that the community generally sees as core learning materials for getting better at your job outside of the pure literal nature of it.

I mean for starters within Buddhism (and religion) there is a wide view of beliefs and systems and I personally ascribe to ones with the most moral value and least inherent baked in fable garbage, aka Zen Buddhism for me. Koans are fun. The values are good. To cry about the religious nature is :alightsoul: Redditor as hell

One of my fave personal experiences was being randomly sat next to a real bodhisattva’s pupil at a random banquet I was invited to like 6 years ago. the last of a real dying breed, the full ascetic meme. We talked for an hour or two and afterwards he made sure to tell his clan to bring me back and that I had great potential. He probably was just trolling me though.
