I’ll make some posts later on how to build proper polling in posts on the site. There’s a whole button and a ton of options, we’re gonna need to know em to do this.

i’m kind of thinking of it as like a de-centralized insurance policy for people who are 1) on this website and 2) are very poor and need financial help regularly because the current economic system lets people slip through the cracks. we’re a community we can help people out this way

The 70s west coast buddhism trend books are fun to read, but if you want something more contemporary to read that leans less into the aesthetics, read Why Buddhism is True by Robert Wright.

I read it a long time ago along with the Alan Watts stuff. It's fun to read and makes me feel better as a person. It's self-help wrapped in religious aesthetic. And honestly I like that type of self-help over the more common approaches today just telling you to get rich or be an alpha male or whatever.

we would need a third party program. I think streamed discord sessions could be a thing. again, we can discuss this in private.

the MOST important thing, by far, is that people TRUST what we’re doing and TRUST the people involved. this is entirely trust based, both ways. so I, for one, cannot be associated with this in any way, officially. I can help build it, design it, and tell you how to run it with minimal effort, but I can’t be a judge or the independant person. I would NEVER trust a charity whose founder had any control over the money. I want people to trust it.

have you read dans book? if so what did you think?

Transparency and trust (both ways) are my top concern if we do a thing like this.

Like, even Plasma,. if he asked for $50, I might give it to him, no reason. I’d probably vote yes, I’d give everyone at least one shot as long as it wasn’t a huge request. If he asked again, I may want to know the reason, but everybody should get trusted at least the first time. as long as its reasonable. if they are constantly needing money, they may have to say why and help verify, but I really dont want to make people do that unless its really 100% necessary.

I’ve put a lot of thought into this. I’ve put a lot of thought into just about everything you can think about. the amount of nights I lay awake thinking, well,…. thousands. thousands.

Are you on drugs ?

Yeah

did you like it? do you have thoughts?

There’s an implicit expectation from my end that a fund like that would not reach 4 figures I think it’s kind of a bigger issue once the number is big. Unless you think I’d rather pocket the nominal amount and let slowdive go without his juice

No, we don’t want it to be that big. It wouldn’t need to be. We would judge the needs of the community and fundraise accordingly.

I would probably put in atleast one vote to disburse $10-15 to a mafia winner of a significant game. Feel free to to veto it, it’s not nearly as important
