do you know how to turn on and use the engine analysis after the puzzle is over
it basically tells you everything about which moves maintain advantage and why losing moves dont work

think i missed it on my phone lichess
Ah it just doesn't wanna tell me mid solve lol
on phone its a lot more work to go through computer lines but you have to go to the microscope button, which takes you to the game analysis, then the gears tab shows the computer lines
you have to make sure youre on the right move and stuff tho
it's a lot easier on desktop
if Qxg4 after g4, Nf6+ wins the queen and they don't even get a knight back for it, which is why they took the knight
oh lmao im an idiot
this is in reference to the phone app btw
idk about the mobile interface on just the website
took me a while to realize the fork you were pointing out
I do mean the local eval
this is an example where it shows that there's only one winning move, and it shows the follow-up line to maintain advantage
if you keep following the line eventually you'll get to a place where there's more than one move to maintain advantage, that's where puzzles end
and yeah if youre curious why a move didnt work, the local eval will tell you the best opponent responses to your losing moves that lead to losing lines
also the idea of puzzles is that the opponent responses are always best, so if it comes up with a response you didnt expect, it means you didn't think of your opponent's best response to your initial move
sometimes this isnt actually that important because, as mentioned, sometimes computer best moves aren't the most practically challenging moves (in checkmating attacks theyll often just give up material immediately to stop the attack rather than force you to continue proving the attack works), but they're the ones where at the end of the line, the computer's given up the least amount of advantage possible (again sometimes this doesnt correspond to human play, where humans can often create more challenging lines that make it harder to maintain advantage, but if you do actually find the best line, theyre more lost at the end, but theyre lost either way)
the usefulness of the engine eval is that you can check lines you calculated that didnt show up to see if your calculations were correct
ah okay i just get spooked by the warning because my phone's battery has been abused enough from the seems of it, practically leaks pwoer at this point. i'll try to remember to take a look next time im ont he go and get stumped tho
i never feel compelled to play at home, just when im out walking errands and wanna do somehting less wasteufl with my attention
