I thought about that but it changes/fades so I think it would still be noticeable - not sure.

the fade is probably a fade between two colors - one being the flash color and the other being the natural background color
You would just fiddle with those values so it’s either less jarring or nonexistent (not a suggestion just a speculation)

Also kind of nit picking here, but the colors of this don't look right - might be something to do with the emoji reactoin plugin itself?
i think i see what you mean, the border is uneven on the sides and also changes color. i think it might be better to make it no border once i add the changes to make reactions back to the original size that they were on my skin. either that or make the border some even amount, but changing the border to match the theme wont be very simple, i would either have to make a PR to the original repo or come up with a retort border color for every theme.
no the color of the background itself is bad on all emojis on all dark modes
