reading an excerpt from an essay about how modern hit tv shows are more interesting than shows from the 70s and 80s due to the content being harder to comprehend and they used this as an analogy/example

There’s a lot going on here honestly, or it’s a combination of me being sick and lacking sleep. They’re asserting that MODERN shows are more interesting because they’re harder to comprehend, right?
in this example yes but the general idea was that shows like the sopranos and west wing where the viewer has to
“try harder” to understand whats going on in each scenario rather than before where if a scientist were to explain to some macho man how a laser gun works, after the “nerdy” explanation the macho man would be like “in english please” and give the same example yet in laymans terms
an interesting read, but some of the examples given were kinda dumb and fell flat because he didnt give in-depth examples of how modern shows exactly were more complicated, rather just generalized those shows because of their impact on modern tv
