Tax Season [DAY 1]

Collector hits town. Town loses a coin. Tax next day, town loses a coin. They die.
It seems important to me.

Like if you're town, what's the difference to you if the minter dies by lynch or on N1, the latter of which is guaranteed to happen if both claim. In your scenario, why wouldn't only the collector claim instead? But I still think it's better for neither to claim.

you only die if you can't pay the tax so starting the day with 0 coins. at least i'd assume as much

huh? not only do we have a better chance of hitting scum with claims but if he dies by vote he can't coin collector and guarantee them surviving both scum stealing from him in one night

I think they die at day start.

you have 2 coins, if you don't steal and no one steals from you and collector targets you, you pay 2 coins at day start and are fine for the day

It might also be a good idea to have everyone steal from the person below them in the player list, since then we're guaranteed to steal from scum -- worst case only once, but more likely twice if they aren't adjacent.

It's not attritional since we net coins from doing it.

honestly what the fuck are you talking about. the thief steals two coins and we all lose one on day start except the evader. even assuming scum go along with the plan completely this is a total trainwreck

the tax mechanic is a substitute for a night kill with the caveat that town can dogpile a hard scum read (punishing a fake counterclaim) and get the thief or expose the evader for a lynch the next day

It's like texas shootout, but no one dies from a single steal. The point is to have town gain as many coins as possible each day.

the only way this is possible is for town to successfully hit scum at night, something made easier if we get our claims down right now. any list or chain solution just means scum starts winning because they get more coins or dont have to pay tax

The whole point of texas shootout (and this game) is that people have to play like town because town has a lot of killpower to remove non-towny players

Obv it ruins that mechanic to introduce some random pattern/everybody-follow-the-plan shit. Scum-sided

+turf war, unlike turf war we have the power to actually clear some town players to make it easier to hit scum

Plus on this forum "everybody follow the plan" has never worked a single time because nobody will agree to follow any plan. Even "collector and mint should claim" will not work Osiris - you could have every person in the thread individually say "Yes, they should claim" and still nobody would claim.

I will say I think the idea of collector claiming to get minted might make sense. But it also might be game-losing because it removes the ability to confirm the mint using night action (if someone needs to CC they know where the coin went).

Collector is guaranteed to survive exactly 1 night (and die second night) if all powers (scum and town) are used on him every night is that right

yes then collector guaranteed lives for 2 more days and we play a 6v1 or 5v2 with an innocent child with a defunct cop check
