It really isnāt anything near the āassembly lineā. AI automation ends up at best being complete ersatz bullshit that in turn ends up being maintained by dumb kids with engineering degrees, not people trained in a trade or who work hard.
AI is cool to solve tedious problems and Iām fine with using it to disrupt our finance industry or put shareholders out of money. I donāt think itās necessary for an AI to replace people who wouldnāt have afforded the engineering degree in the first place

People arenāt graduating from high school and going into data scientist jobs. AI will solve a lot of tedious problems but itās not going to replace customer service. Automation has been a sure money-grab for shareholders since the money generated by a robot isnāt being put back into personal income taxes, education, healthcare, or living expenses. I canāt wait for AI to replace stockbrokers and arbitrage professionals, but they arenāt going to replace people who sit on their butts all day because they live off of company stock or own a company outright. Itās going to serve to make the rich richer.

The medical industry relies on patents, not patients, to stay rich. Nothing about that industry being āpowerfulā correlates to human factors being less sick, itās all but a charitable force keeping people alive. Medicine has got super high profit margins until it gets genericized when the patents expire - I expect AI to improve detection rates of things when it comes to medical imaging, but I donāt think it will be priced in the US in a way that helps more people.
