living here in michigan you hear foreign languages a lot but i've only had a couple of experiences being unable to communicate with someone and they're usually wise enough to stick with someone who does know english if they need it
You defending him as "not racist" in this specific instance really isn't doing him any favors...
I see it as the same thing as being upset when you find out your auto mechanic doesn't understand how cars work.
Or the person who is about to remove your appendix is actually a plumber.
It's not racism to be upset that a company hired someone for a job that they're unqualified for.
