dumb software flunky wants to argue "broo we're doing cool things in atoms" now because trump won and then just regurgitates joel spoelskyisms 10 posts later.

you dont even do physical software. if you write any code at all it's got ten layers of abstractions over it. you are the farthest from anything physical possible

Still waiting for the answer to this

I've done fatigue analysis dude. Just get a life.

For me it was when I left my house just now to pick up food.

All your code runs on a virtual machine.

Whens the last time you wrote code that wasn't running on a virtual machine. I'm waiting.

I don't write code anymore

I write emails.

Broo I'm doing things in the world of atoms!!!!

Alright, update the model then. I have no takeaway from this, it's all too arcane for me. The computing power/time graph since the 90s still follows an exponential.

Hes right though you are absolutely suffering from jdance levels if grandiose delusion

what an esoteric way you can view this

weird that you're both right, tho, and neither side really matters

Hope this can inspire somebody today

Not cogent. Not valid. Appeal to authority. Poor argument

Another lie. I'm a part of the Adjacent to Downtown Non-Car-Owner community.

Watched a little more of Joe Rogan and Thiel - getting annoyed because Joe doesn't understand well what Thiel is saying before responding

It starts kind of funny on Joe's fave topic (drugs)

Joe's a full-on "psychedelics will heal society" maniac and Thiel talks around him in a way that makes it clear Thiel completely disagrees but Joe has no idea he's being disagreed with

Thiel seems to put psychedelic drug use on the same tier as identity politics, staying inside playing video games - it is essentially a debilitator that shifts the focus from outward (how can I improve the world around me) to inward (derogatory, for Thiel)

But then convo turns to Epstein and Joe just keeps repeating his own points, doesn't seem to understand what Thiel says well enough to take the conversation in the new direction Thiel wants to go

Thiels actually making a really interesting point and has to resort to Socratic Methoding Joe into it (unsuccessful) - he essentially wants Joe to realize that the motivation of some of these people to be involved with Epstein was the lust for power and prestige, the ability to get ahead (rather than lust for underage sex, which is honestly rarer) - the kompromat from underage sex was the price for buy-in to the game.

Finally he reaches the thing he actually wanted to say, which is pretty funny: That Bill Gates got involved with Epstein to help get rid of all his money (through charity) because things were not going well with his wife and he didn't have a prenup.
