The best time to find a new wage job is when you have a wage.
That being said most bosses do not give raises if you dont ask for one.
A lot of people who climb the ladder and find a better opportunity/wage, never stopped searching for one no matter how stuck they felt with their current position/wage, and also took the better opportunity when it came.
I can see someone feeling trapped having to work a dead end job when their have bills, but that is the key, bills. If you managed to save enough to pay your bills, and do not owe money you may be able to save enough to the point where you can take a year(very generous here) off to go search for something better. I think you only really become trapped accepting a low wage when searching for a better one becomes dangerous to your current living. aka if you miss work, you lose your home/living situation.
Its a balance of power. Though it can be really frustrating when you find yourself working for a wage, feel more deserving and feel unable to find a better wage, or too in love with your job to accept a different opportunity with a better wage.
Iāve been blessed to love my job and my boss has been so far very understanding and maybe even a little generous when Iāve asked for a raise.

this is one of those interactions that really highlights how bad the internet is for these kinds of discussions because you cant interrupt somebody and steer the conversation towards shit that you can actually discuss in the scope you actually wanted and instead you have to read them type paragraphs of shit from their own worldview thatās like 30% relevant to your point at best
