Nice, some people are already laying into him for this change
I clicked the website in the description of the person who suggested this and it's just an empty blue screen - is that who discourse is taking core css changes from now

What are ātagsā
Jeff responded to my post but I think Iām just going to never respond so that he doesnāt realize I have no idea what Iām talking about
I feel like my response is that tags are completely unnecessary and nobody cares about them (at least in our experience, on this site - I get why other communities might use them)
But I am not going to post that
I hate Jeff Atwod (and Dan) so much.
We should cancel CSS - the programming language.
Iām cloning a project and its literally cloning 10 KiB/s
what the fuck
I could go to bed and wake up and this still wouldnāt be done
wonder why discourse meta allows transparency in avatars but here doesnt seem to work
?
isnt agubarās avatar trnasparent?
Hmm
So it is
hey let me know if i can do anything to help you get moving so we can have another hand on deck. i dunno if you still have no options but you can dual boot into Linux, or still use Docker to get setup on Fedora, or use virtualbox to set up an environment on pretty much anything. thereās a # of steps but atleast its really straight forward to get started (they go step by step for everything, if you have a problem hit me up)
ill let u know how to access the git stuff
tags might be a useful solution when it comes to categorizing and handling threads of different sorts but its obviously not a good replacement for categories because it would mean you have to start tagging tautologically based on their category or just coming up for tags with everything
not that the latter is really that bad of an option. i think we set it so that people cant come up with their own tags but there are plenty of applications. like theres a fugload of random jdance threads that could use a jdance tag, or tagging based on who is hosting or what the setup was or who won etc etc so people can easily find/reference those things.
its kind of a good idea simply because the only solution to keep things from getting out of hand here is to force someone to build and maintain a directory of important threads, which sounds like grunt work for the mods and isnāt actually addressing any problems regarding how difficult it is to track down a thread.
maybe the solution is to enable people to make their own tags and let that kind of thing build itself Organically
Letting people start tagging their own threads doesnāt sound that bad (probably will be entertaining at the very least) but you do have to keep in mind the people who actually tag their threads with the intention of increasing readability and making everyoneās forum experience better will be in the minority
Itās an opportunity for creativity and I donāt see the downside really
fuck you
qv
1 good idea is giving some members ability to tag othersā threads (once again, for readability) but then you have to consider that the risk of abuse is even worse here because you get some āfunnyā guy using tags as a tool to participate in whatever the latest dogpile is
Eg. Trust level 3 ewiz tagging every jdance thread with virgin or vice versa
