People are complicated. When we know that corruption is wrong, we will look for a rationalization, and evangelical preachers have been writing about modern israel and the rapture a ton for decades. We will tell ourselves something is true like that until we really believe it so we don't have to face our fault. Corruption might be at the root, but they really do believe that about the rapture.
