Yeah sure older generations for sure view Israel way more favorably but there are politicians on both sides dem and republican who do not unconditionally support Israel and still get elected and the only difference between them and others is about a million in campaign support from AIPAC. I believe if AIPAC funding was taken away there would probably be far less support for Israel among politicians and would mainly be limited to representatives whoâs constituents are mainly these older Protestant types.

I would care less about the whole thing if Jews werenât overwhelmingly liberal. If they were on some âremove the brownsâ in America like they are in Israel it would make me the number one Israel shill in the world

I forget what the theory is called but I learned something in an IR class that said finding the one cause or deciding variable in politics is foolish because they support and influence each other. I think this is a prime example. Like it or not, these people get into politics because they really think they can make a difference and have beliefs. They refuse some money offers and accept others. Accept money from Israel and look for a convenient nearby belief to rationalize it, like the rapture. Your belief hardens in that so you now accept more dirty money because of that belief to further the cause. And the cycle goes on.
If an atheist or deist or something was in office and got that offer, it would be way harder to accept that money and try to rationalize it. They're more likely to look somewhere else. The republican party does have more people that go that hard for Israel because it is the fundamentalist Christianity party.
I think leftists (not liberal dems) were more likely to take money from Russian state media in the Obama era and early Trump era for the same reason.
