He wrote the book in the 90s and at the time it seemed like the insane fanfiction of an ultranationalist who was sour about losing the cold war... because it was... but today we see some of these things unfolding.
To me this book, and the close friendship of the two men, and Putin's obvious dedication to carrying out this "plan", paints every single thing Russia has done for the last 20 years as some cold, calcuated attempt at increasing their power.

I think it's absolutely relevant to see what the end goal of this plan they are so obviously carrying out is, and that end goal is the utter destruction and destabilization of "Atlatacist hegemony", meaning specifically NATO, and the EU as a concept. I want you to really think about how this invasion of Ukraine would have gone with Trump as President, and his keenness towards leaving NATO and geopolitical isolationism. What would the current state of Europe be today? Because I can easily see a non-US backed NATO refusing to support, say, Poland if they were subsequently invaded by proxy from Ukraine.

obviously these two points seem silly right now, but with him recently funding Le Pen's run in France and the hard shift to the right in Germany, we could very easily see both a French and German right wing govt. in power at the same time, both who were helped in their rise to power by Putin.
