the entire premise of which is just dumbfuck right wing false equivalency nonsense designed to make the ivasion of iraq and defending ukraine the same event with the same motive in the minds of gullible anti-war liberals and therefore make them less likely to support the war
it takes like 10 seconds of critical thinking to see how the two absolutely nothing alike at all lmao
This book was written in the 90s and the guy is still close friends with putin. someone assasinated his daughter who was a state TV propagandist not that long ago so clearly he's still relevant.
I copy/pasted the entire article from wiki but since half of the things are wildly obviously not happening, I'll just link the ones that did/are.
These are all direct quotes from a book called "Foundation of Geopolitics" by Alexsandr Dugin, a close friend and advisor of Putin. He wrote the book in the 90s and at the time it seemed like the insane fanfiction of an ultranationalist who was sour about losing the cold war... because it was... but today we see some of these things unfolding.
To me this book, and the close friendship of the two men, and Putin's obvious dedication to carrying out this "plan", paints every single thing Russia has done for the last 20 years as some cold, calcuated attempt at increasing their power.
I think Putin completely lied to, took advantage of, and ran circles around Angela Merkel. He got Europe hooked on Russian gas while turning around and spending all the profits rapidly modernizing his military, developing hypersonic missiles, this type of thing. And still the ignorant fucks , especially Merkel, thought they were smarter than him and that they could control him.
Even after he revealed his hand in 2014.. they still thought they could control him.
They were fucking wrong.
this has been done, this was brexit. it's well known that Russia propaganda played a huge part in achieving the votes necessary. google if you don't believe me.
this is in progress in belarus and plans were linked for an invasion of moldova if they had been more successful in Ukraine. I just picked some random article but there are plenty talking about this.
obviously this has been happening, syria for one. also puts into context their attempts to incorporate Chechnya and make islam some part of if not Russian then "Soviet" identity, specifically anti western.
yep
they've been pretty much doing this to the letter since 2008 in Geoergia..
failed turkish coup
absolutely relevant
anyway I don't think you can describe their ambitions as "imperial" because I think that's reductive but they're quite literally obsessed with increasing their power base, destabilizing the west, causing wars in pretty much every country around them, and all of this is based on some insane grudge held by oldschool Russians still not over losing the cold war.
Such as Putin and especially Dugin.
More specifically it's based on the idea of what is "Russian", and what they rightfully "Own", mostly using historical analysis no deeper than "we once controlled it". but they also argue along religious and ethnic lines too. It's basically the manifesto of a school shooter, except instead of killing their classmates they want to try to topple the west.
they were also the first and most aggressive when it came to cyber warfare and mass disinformation, facebook bots, etc.
Yeah not everything in this book came to pass but a chilling amount has so far, the guy is still alive and still good friends with Putin.
I think it's absolutely relevant to see what the end goal of this plan they are so obviously carrying out is, and that end goal is the utter destruction and destabilization of "Atlatacist hegemony", meaning specifically NATO, and the EU as a concept. See the post below for his end-game with Germany and France, the two most important countries in continental Europe after successfully pulling off Brexit.
I want you to really think about how this invasion of Ukraine would have gone with Trump as President, and his keenness towards leaving NATO and geopolitical isolationism. What would the current state of Europe be today? Because I can easily see a non-US backed NATO refusing to support, say, Poland if they were subsequently invaded by proxy from Ukraine.
Bottom line, anyone tryna say this war is the fault of the west, or that it's all because of "NATO expansion"... is either totally ignorant, ignorant of Putin and his ambitions, or just utterly brainbroken for 9 years of US culture wars that they can't bring themselves to agree with anything a liberal might support, and liberals are very pro Ukraine. I think that's all.
Germany should be offered the de facto political dominance over most Protestant and Catholic states located within Central and Eastern Europe. Kaliningrad Oblast could be given back to Germany. The book uses the term "MoscowâBerlin axis".[9]
France should be encouraged to form a bloc with Germany, as they both have a "firm anti-Atlanticist tradition"
obviously these two points seem silly right now, but with him recently funding Le Pen's run in France and the hard shift to the right in Germany, we could very easily see both a French and German right wing govt. in power at the same time, both who were helped in their rise to power by Putin. And if this happens, I don't know what it would mean for Europe and even NATO as a concept, but needless to say it would be pretty fucking bad.
Biden administration officials also are worried that Ukraine is running out of forces, while Russia has a seemingly endless supply, officials said. Ukraine is also struggling with recruiting and has recently seen public protests about some of President Volodymyr Zelenskyyâs open-ended conscription requirements.
Officials also have privately said Ukraine likely only has until the end of the year or shortly thereafter before more urgent discussions about peace negotiations should begin.
"Manpower is at the top of the administrationâs concerns right now,â one said. The U.S. and its allies can provide Ukraine with weaponry, this person said, âbut if they donât have competent forces to use them it doesnât do a lot of goodâ
A Gallup poll released this week shows decreasing support for sending additional aid to Ukraine, with 41% of Americans saying the U.S. is doing too much to help Kyiv. Thatâs a significant change from just three months ago when 24% of Americans said they felt that way. The poll also found that 33% of Americans think the U.S. is doing the right amount for Ukraine, while 25% said the U.S. is not doing enough.
Apparently the time to negotiate for peace is when you no longer have an army; interested in seeing how this one works out for the Ukrainians. Seems like a disadvantageous position to me but who I am to contradict the top minds of the Biden Administration.
It doesnât matter if the outcome is the same as long as 200 thousand Russians are dead and 250 thousand maimed. We are willing to sacrifice the entire young male population of Ukraine to achieve these goals
Letâs take two countries in Europe with some of the worst demographic outlooks and the lowest birth rates and make them kill an entire generation of young people because dead white people is the goal
Ukraine can win guys! A country a third of the size of the other country can win an extended attritional war we just need to keep giving them weapons!!!
this is what I mean by being brainbroken. I don't watch CNN, or read CNN, never in my entire life have I ever been exposed to CNN except indirectly or without my consent (being linked an article).
you're talking to someone who read fucking Noam Chomsky books his dad gave him when he was 14. don't insult me with this nonsense. saying "CNN this CNN that" isn't an argument. Notice how I don't constantly namedrop FOX news when I argue with you guys? think about how stupid and annoying that would be
But because SOME of what I'm saying matches SOME of what is advocated for on those networks, it must all be wrong, and bad, and somehow I must also only think it because of them.
this is quite literally the position of the Russian Government my dude. they don't care how many Russians are killed/mained, how many Ukranians are killed/maimed, as long as they make those imaginary geopolitical gains based on an insane book written in the 90s.
they especially don't care when most of those people come from the villages and the prison system. they would happily kill another million of they could achieve their end goal of conquering some wartorn clay (because it will totally save them from imaginary NATO aggresion!!!!!)
you're talking about how this was some Jewish masterplan to kill white people when in reality the only ones who "planned" any of this were the Russian govt themselves. how do you rationalize this?
also a LARGE amount of the Russians dying are not white
