Yeah, d*n's right: rather than lighting money on fire in Ukraine we could be lighting it on fire trying to teach black people trigonometry.
When I walk into a department store, I ask myself "what's the best ROI I could get in here in terms of material damage to Russia", and then I spend my money accordingly.
Thou still unravish'd bride of quietness,
Thou foster-child of silence and slow time,
Sylvan historian, who canst thus express
A flowery tale more sweetly than our rhyme:
What leaf-fring'd legend haunts about thy shape
Of deities or mortals, or of both,
In Tempe or the dales of Arcady?
What men or gods are these? What maidens loth?
What mad pursuit? What struggle to escape?
What pipes and timbrels? What wild ecstasy?
Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard
Are sweeter; therefore, ye soft pipes, play on;
Not to the sensual ear, but, more endear'd,
Pipe to the spirit ditties of no tone:
Fair youth, beneath the trees, thou canst not leave
Thy song, nor ever can those trees be bare;
Bold Lover, never, never canst thou kiss,
Though winning near the goal yet, do not grieve;
She cannot fade, though thou hast not thy bliss,
For ever wilt thou love, and she be fair!
Ah, happy, happy boughs! that cannot shed
Your leaves, nor ever bid the Spring adieu;
And, happy melodist, unwearied,
For ever piping songs for ever new;
More happy love! more happy, happy love!
For ever warm and still to be enjoy'd,
For ever panting, and for ever young;
All breathing human passion far above,
That leaves a heart high-sorrowful and cloy'd,
A burning forehead, and a parching tongue.
Who are these coming to the sacrifice?
To what green altar, O mysterious priest,
Lead'st thou that heifer lowing at the skies,
And all her silken flanks with garlands drest?
What little town by river or sea shore,
Or mountain-built with peaceful citadel,
Is emptied of this folk, this pious morn?
And, little town, thy streets for evermore
Will silent be; and not a soul to tell
Why thou art desolate, can e'er return.
O Attic shape! Fair attitude! with brede
Of marble men and maidens overwrought,
With forest branches and the trodden weed;
Thou, silent form, dost tease us out of thought
As doth eternity: Cold Pastoral!
When old age shall this generation waste,
Thou shalt remain, in midst of other woe
Than ours, a friend to man, to whom thou say'st,
"Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know."
i meant in terms of military spending
so what do you think would have happened if Russia just took over Ukraine in a few weeks?
Do you honestly believe that would be the end of all hostilities and the region would be peaceful? (well except for the millions of Ukrainians who’d be tortured or killed or displaced)
you also have more than enough money to help Ukraine and do those other things as well
what do you think russia's imperial aspirations are and why?
I think they want to reclaim as much former territory as they can because they’ve literally said so, over and over, for at least a decade now. their own words
are you implying they dont have imperial aspirations? as they invade ukraine, have plans about starting a war with japan leaked (yes really), plan to annex belarus, would have attacked moldova already if they had been successful in ukraine
its just extremely obvious they’re going to be causing chaos in that region for as long as possible
lets not forget this book written in the 90s by one of putins top political advisors, a plan he has been carrying out ever since
its really my job to prove russia has aggressive ambitions? lol
im just curious what you think is going to happen. you sound like one of those hawkish american cnn boomer russia heads when you start talking about cost benefit analysis and roi of american military spending in ukraine.
i feel like most canadians are more scared of china and belt and road economic imperialism or whatever
it's not your job to do anything you fucking spaz. i just asked you a question because u talk like some traumatized boomer that lived through the cold war
i don't know what russia's end game looks like but they've shown clear posturing in restoring ussr borders. Occupying ossetia in georgia, annexing crimea, trying to puppet ukraine, some people would say this is all to counter nato expansion but all these acts have only driven hesitant countries on their border to seek to join nato.
unfortunately for them their invasion and pathetic performance of their military was poorly timed with 2 of the stans (kyrgyz and tajik iirc) having a spat and russia completely abandoning armenia with big daddy USA having to step in on their behalf to mediate peace. i honestly don't understand the rationale but russia as a nation is certainly still deeply traumatized by the world wars and wants to stay a big dog in the theatre at any cost
they still got the lion tho
just shocked u could be so ignorant when you’ve literally been to georgia
anyway okay, you were asking in good faith, my bad
ill answer later ots hard on mobile
i think shellshocked boomers were afraid of all Russians tbf, i’m just afraid of Putin
i was just pointing out it's the first time in my entire life i can recall that massive bloated budget of US military doing some clear and obvious good
idk how in your head that makes me "sound like a cnn warhawk" but okay buddy lmao
