In fact, if you want an actual answer: Mafia would likely know that my follower claim is fake as well, which in turn would lead them into thinking that Matticus himself is fake claiming and not kill him.
But in reality you can't think about the game from either a Town POV, a Survivor POV, or a Mafia POV - because you're not good enough at the game.
