What happened was a little pin that hold a big pin that holds the boom pieces together sheared off and the big pin slowly walked out of the spot and the crane collapsed
This holds the big pin in place that holds the boom pieces together. Big pin is like 6" dia. Cotter pin is like 1/2"

You bend those pieces outward. Better then a wire
You out it through the hole in the big pin and then bent it around the big pin
yeah but wire wrap would prevent the pin falling out if it broke
