How do migrants from poor countries invest into housing development when the costs associated are generally enormous compared to the net worth of a migrant from North Africa, India or central/South America?
You know in LA because of regulations on newer built apartment buildings it doesnât make financial sense to build lower or middle income housing. It only makes sense to build big ass âluxuryâ high rises

For example, the apartment I lived at in mid city/west adams my girlfriend didnât even have any clue where it was and had never been to that area in her life and she grew up in LA
I wouldnât even call her rich either
im just saying its a thing where rich people take council positions in their small neighborhood/town and prevent companies that want to build lower income housing there.
- this would lower the value of the home that they live in
- poor people are gay
In LA itâs more about preventing homeless shelters being built, the county regulations already essentially stop any developer from being able to build low income housing anywhere
i've seen like 4 homeless people in my town in the last 6 years
When I lived in LA I would see like 10 homeless people per city block I went past

Itâs terrible, it wasnât that bad when I moved there in like 2016/2017. I mean it was bad compared to basically any other city in the US but it got exponentially worse during Covid, partially because the city stopped cleaning up homeless encampments (because the cleaners would be âat riskâ of catching Covid) so instead of making homeless people pack their shit up once a week while they sprayed the sidewalks down with pressure washers they just left them alone completely for like 9 months

Yeah itâs very bad too because these are not like normal homeless people these are like fentanyl meth zombies that do crazy shit constantly. Like Iâve driven past homeless dudes just jerking off on the sidewalk broad day, taking shits on the sidewalk, stumbling around the road screaming at cars and people walking by, etc etc itâs just insane

Theres probably an element of truth to that but the amount of one on one work that would have to go into them is definitely not possible on a large scale
