2024 Presidential Election

Wow ur a donkey they bid high so they can park their money in places where CCP can't just come and take their shit like back in China.

Build more don't let Chinese nationals buy

Who's building? You?

Was every state asylum so poorly run? How much of that was sensationalized by people at the time in the 50s? Just because we failed before to have proper oversight doesnā€™t mean we will fail again. I just donā€™t see any other option for some of the people I see on the streets, you said some work program but what about the crazy ass ones who wouldnā€™t be able to do work even if it was something as simple as picking up trash? Iā€™m not saying put every person in an asylum but thereā€™s a significant % of homeless people in LA that are too insane to do anything productive or functional.

Leftists in LA love to ignore the problem by saying things like ā€œa majority of homeless are unseen and living in their car!ā€ Or shit like that basically just ignoring the problem that Iā€™ve seen with my own eyes that a lot of these people would be considered clinically insane/schizophrenic/or in a nonstop state of psychosis

Like as a society we have a totally different perspective from the average person on mental illness now than we did when asylums were a thing. I just think we could have big long term psychiatric hospitals for the clinically insane and it would work out much better for society and for the people who are living in tents on sidewalks shitting and masturbating outside around other people and taking just insane amounts of drugs

If theyā€™re for profit there will be issues and no one will actually do it as it needs to be done as a non profit so gg

dumbest person on the forum

:skull_and_crossbones:

Oh yeah?

I donā€™t care if the state comes in and does it and it would likely work out better that way because the state could commit people to state ran facility without having to go through any state to private business type deals. Saying that it couldnā€™t be done without a profit is just like leftist nonsense because thereā€™s a ton of people who would love to be able to open up mental health facilities that are regulated by the state and make money doing it. The problem is the majority of the homeless population lack health insurance and getting approved for Medicare/Medical is a multi year process and I believe you have to be operating already meaning you have to come into the current healthcare market competing for premium PPO policies which is a super competitive market and costs a ton to do business in. And if youā€™re able to survive for 2 years with a business structured to serve PPO clients you canā€™t easily change the entire business model into serving public health policies because PPO clients means less clients more amenities but the policies pay more, Medicare means you get paid $200 a day and you put as many people as possible in a facility to make it profitable.

For-profit prisons are already a nightmare.
The government can't oversee everything.
If they spent more money on oversight, then it would be better to build more government prisons.
It's a catch 22.

Everyone Vancouver needs it

Iā€™ll say I donā€™t think forced mental health treatment would work best in a profit driven sense because it would be too easy for bad actors to abuse that system to make money. Essentially they are encouraged to have people forced to stay in treatment for as long as possible to make as much money as possible.

However thatā€™s not the entire market that could be served with mental health/drug addiction treatment centers being privately ran and able to take Medicare. Volunteer admission facilities do fine to treat patients because they canā€™t force anyone to be there and canā€™t force anyone to stay, if conditions at the facilities are terrible people will leave. The problem is itā€™s very hard and very expensive (think millions or more) to get a facility licensed to take Medicare like Iā€™ve said. For private insurance you get a state license get JHACO accredited and youā€™re good to go with like 99% of PPO policies. It should be like that for Medicare/state insurance plans (which is what a majority of drug addicts have) and I guarantee there would be a ton more options for people to go to treatment even if they didnā€™t have private insurance policies
