2024 Presidential Election

we have crackheads up in these parts and they may be scummy but they actually tend to be pretty industrious. work under the table at unlicensed construction jobs or shock and jive however they can to get their fix. they're not as zombie like as videos of la or philly come off to me

That's a good post.

even if you killed all the druggies you would still have the people who made poor life choices or just downright bad runs of luck left on the street, or even the people who just don't give a shit. there's a leg amputee i see begging everytime i come out of tiger's games; dunno if she's homeless but asking for a decent meal when you have no chance of providing one for yourself isn't sinful

you're always going to have losers in capitalism, just the way it is

i mean losers in total sum of 'the game' not that they're losers

We vote for housing projects like every election cycle in california but the funding is always something distributed to more local governments where NIMBYs stop them from being effective. That's what it seems like anyway. Our governments at the top are too weak.

give everyone a car so they can deliver pizza

I would intentionally bully most homeless out of the position

the homeless arc thread was just a complete charade? you have no sympathy?

Statistically they have severe mental issues right theres nothing i can do about it

why even ask i should know jdance is incapable of any feeling without lust, greed, gluttony, or vanity

In Japan homeless people mostly wait until they're old enough to get a meager pension every month and then they live in manga cafes/cyber cafes. I stayed at a manga cafe for the first time when I went to see pantera in osaka a couple months ago and I was like "ohhhhh here they are."

Its ironic that you told me to take a nap when youre clearly napless

This is why I didn’t mention the gov side, it either doesn’t make it into someone platform or it gets lost to pork

Idk people always say NIMBYs or whatever but I honestly don’t blame people who don’t want to be around injection sites, homeless shelters, methadone clinics etc. like it’s undeniable the areas around these places turn into shitholes because it draws like literally some of the worst people from around the area to one centralized location. Not even saying like all homeless people are violent criminals but a decent % of them are and cause a lot of nonsense wherever they go.

The big one that got a ton of media attention that I remember was the one they wanted to build in koreatown and the people living there protested and derailed it. This was back in 2018 and I don’t know if it ever got built or what. But building that I ktown is just terrible because ktown is already a working class/immigrant part of LA that’s not the nicest area as it is so adding a huge homeless shelter there is just going to turn it into a complete shithole. I remember DSA council members and leftists on Reddit kept dismissing concerns with condescending statements “ohhh the people who have a home are going to be sooo inconvenienced by the people on the streets just struggling to eat a meal once a day” calling them NIMBYs and shit like they were suburbanite Karen’s when ktown is full of first generation Korean immigrants and Mexicans just barely getting by, not to mention tons of people working service jobs live there because it’s one of the cheapest areas of LA. So it’s just fucking over poorer people by making their area shittier and then shaming them for not wanting to live in skid row lite

LA should just continue to centralize homeless services in downtown, I don’t think they want to because it’s a big shame in LA that skid row is a thing but they have all the space in the world down there to convert industrial warehouses to homeless housing and everyone already expects homeless people to be there so there wouldn’t be much pushback. Instead they want to spread out all the services and shelters across LA so I guess it’s less noticeable and not condensed into one area not really sure.

None of this solves the problem in LA though that no matter how many shelters you build, how much housing you give for free to homeless people, a % of those homeless people, and I would say at least 5-10% of homeless people, are literally insane to the point if you gave them a free apartment to live in they would be liable to break the toilet off the floor and shit all over the walls and just turn the place into a crack den
