State specific polling data with the demographic breakdowns attached and information on polling collection are useful. Unfortunately, that info isn't given half the time and it's never included by the media building the narrative out of that poll, which is definitely why they seem like they don't mean shit
2016 polls were by and large correct except for a few exit polls in swing states on the day of the election because fuckers were straight lying about voting for trump
