Anti Trumpism general

these things

are fucking annoying

I'm kind've amazed they somehow came out of the trade wars mostly unscathed

japanese are hardcore man, in everything they do

it's odd that they have those, but the anti nuclear "protesters" I saw were completely silent & sitting on the side walks out of the way with some petitions on clipboards that I don't remember them even asking people to sign lol

Yeah I legit couldn't believe what was happening when those assholes came to my neighborhood for the first time at 5am.

thats pretty funny

When I tried to figure out why they had all this obnoxious street campaigning, a friend I asked told me that TV ads are mostly prohibited or mega regulated, so they are kinda left to hustling in the streets. I wonder how many people would otherwise be interested in politics there if they weren't so turned off by the assholes putting megaphones in their ears on the way to work.

its hard to believe that out of anything this kinda shit flies in japan

I think being in Japan actually helps it fly. I thought the same at first, but when you think about it, no Japanese person is going to confront them. They can just announce their campaign slogans and political positions and it is extremely unlikely anyone will confront them. Imagine someone doing that in America, people would line up to argue with the politician right there on the street.

it seems like the worst pollution im hearing of in japan is apparently noise pollution which is funny to me cuz that seems like something that their society would value negating pretty highly.

i would rather live in a dirty place where the only trucks im hearing at 5am are perpetually doing construction work, atleast they go away after they fix up the place

Imagine how embarassed some corny conservative dem would get if they took a megaphone to the street in the open. People would give them hell here.

a few months ago a similar situation played out infront of my place, people just dont want to have to sit there and hear that shit for more than a moment at most

Actually I should say I did see a group of folks give them hell once. I saw one of those loud campaign trucks in Akihabara (I think) and there was a group of guys wearing shirts that said "TOKYO AGAINST RACISM" that would flip off the truck every time it drove by. But yeah that was an exception.

I had a businessman "confront" me on the train and ask me to be quiet, though he did it in the most polite way possible and said thank you lol

They also become visibly upset when your drunk baka gaijin friend won't stop wrestling with you in the middle of a train car because he's got liquid courage flowing through his veins.

assisting the Saudis in the bonesawing of a journalist?

you bet!

It is, because it's irrelevant to my position that he's the same on imperialism and capitalism. I never contested that his handling of this shit has been horrendous

No, what you're posting is whataboutism. My position has always been the two parties are fundamentally the same on imperialism and capitalism. This is irrelevant

Not would, have. Libs defanged the EPA

I'll hand it to you on the GND stuff: last time we talked about it his policy was severely lacking but he swung to actually supporting a significant GND proposal about a month ago

Lol you clearly don't understand the context. I want a Democratic party that moves to the left, not the right. Voting for Biden doesn't accomplish that

The best thing is I do vote. I vote for state elections, ally local elections, etc. If I just have establishment Dems to choose from for US Senate, Congress, or President I vote third party or write in.

It's not a moral opposition to voting: it's a statement that actually does have an effect. They get the numbers. I'm a registered democrat, I voted, but I didn't vote for their establishment shitheads. That data is analyzed by them to choose how to position their platform
