Yeah you just gotta keep going along for the ride

planning to read this trilogy

has anyone read it? it sounds unbelievably creative, mix of existential horror and sci fi

this is exactly the type of shit I’m into, super deep and well thought out ideas about the past, present, and future of the universe, future of not just our species but reality as a whole, how and why it will end, etc

I haven’t ordered books from Amazon that quick in my life

and they’re making a netflix show about it fuck yeah

i read almost half of the first three body problem and thought it sucked due to characters all feeling like stereotypes/caricatures

you might like the ideas in it but i didnt find them super compelling

skimming the synopsis of the 2nd and 3rd books and theyve got some pretty interesting ideas ig

but i mean its like a whole lotta bullshit lmao

yeah fair enough well the ideas is what I’m most interested in

also the translation could explain some of the poor character development

my impression is simply that the author is satisfied with superficial and essentialized understandings of people and sci fi ideas

the appeal is mainly in the breadth of how many ideas he's able to mix in, not in the depth

lmk after reading if you disagree

like it's like

appears to be deep at first glance but it kind of ends up feeling like a facade of depth

Annihilation is a good short read. West of Rehoboth was fun

about a finnish police officer who lives in stockholm and works for the swedish FBI

very gritty and very well written, the ultimate pageturner enjoyable books to read

book 1

2/3 through ‘Three Body Problem’ and it’s honestly the most ambitious thing ever written. imagine like the coolest fucking shit you can ever imagine, over and over again, 100x in a row, never once being able to predict what comes next

fuck dude this is so good

no idea how netflix plan to adapt it to a show but hey best of luck to them
