Whats really cool about dota is when its minute 0 and i have to think about what items i go this game because of how much farm iam gonna get on my lane and what heroes i have against me and with me. Thats cool.

I think the biggest key of all is

if you have the spare time, you should make or join a team. Even if you never play pubs again you can still do this, it’s the way DotA is meant to be played and its infinitely more enjoyable.

if you do play solo queue, you need to feel exactly the same emotions after a win as after a loss. If you allow yourself to not feel over the top happy about a win, you can not feel over the top upset about a loss.
And the last thing is placing no value in what other people say about your during games, good or bad. KuroKy said this in an interview after winning ti7 and I think it’s a great quote. It’s not really POSSIBLE to only place value in the good things people say about you and not the bad. However if you place value in NEITHER then nobody has any power over you.
What you say about feeling trapped in a game has some validity though, I’ll give you that. That’s one of the biggest reasons I liked CS so much is even if you’re losing 11-0 you can still have just as much impact as anyone else and you can still win your team around BY YOUR SELF. No real good answer to that part.

not as bad as i thought but damn i played a lot in 2013
id say half of my games are private lobbies and i dont believe dotabuff tracks that, it would be a lot though

I wish I could still do this. In high school, we’d be able to run 10 people in houses between our two schools a few times a night. even 5 manning isn’t nearly as fun
