the only blocker would be storing stats depends on the host manually entering each players alignment and results after a game.
id like to build a nice form for it.
Exactly
Manual entry is the dumb brain solution
But better solutions require talking to people about how to do this correctly and planning out smart ways
This is enough of an obstacle that dumb-first development starts to sound appealing
I don’t think there is a better way unless we have the bot configured to have game parameters like. It could host a 9 person setup of the same roles and would do that.
No youre wrong there because trying to figure out the smartest way to do it is the easiest way to come up with a hardass problem to solve. you’re supposed to aim for getting it to just work, atleast if there’s successful manual entry it means that its being received and digested.
Which is kind of lame to me. I think it’s in a good spot.
Plus we can always pass stuff into the form so it like prefills some information and makes things easier, but going straight to automated isn’t comfy.
Any solution that involves manually entering data from each game is a bad solution by definition because it requires somebody to be continually entering that data
- Not usable- creates more work
- Not sustainable - when you get bored of doing the work it stops working
That is the problem statement
if you reread what i said youll say i didnt say it was a bad solution, its definitely the ideal solution to me so nobody has to lift a finger after a concluded game. but some things are easier to automate than otehrs and this is prolly isnt one of them unless you have a good idea (a good idea that isnt “lets come up with good ideas” that is)
also in any case the host would always have to submit the roles at some point if they were generated outside the site
I have a few ideas on how it could work. I have sorta been working on a concept that random teams from a list of players. That could easily initialize the players and there alignments. Host would only need to say what alignment won.
It would still require the host to list roles and alignments but it would not be a post game result, more of a step in game creation and role randomization.
Nice concept
That has the added benefit of protecting the integrity of the rands (one of the principle angles of host buffoonery right now is re-rolling or manually selecting the “random” roll that you want)
My main interest is that a table has data on players and alignments without that data having to be manually entered
The bot already has players, games, and is touching a lot of other stuff like NKs and lynches
it’s just a question of how to get the data and then also a question of making sure that data isn’t exposed during the live game
Imagine posting this much about a bot that just handles text
If only we had the source code of the old ratings system from the old site…
Yea I’m a solid 3k Leo player.
About to be done with this dazzle game carry me
I’m at the bar.
