Avoid Walmart for any cooking products.

Depends on how awesome you want. Best deals for blenders is around holidays. $500 blenders become $100, which is still a decent amount but if it never breaks and you use it daily.

I believe you can get certified refurbs of nice blenders from manufacturers online.
