I think my original idea was to make the transition between pathing/combat seamless, i.e. you path with the bejeweled mechanic and then the board state is saved, gems change, and you enter combat.
I dunno, if you could somehow make the movement through the dungeon have some of the same mechanics as the combat system I think it's superior.

I caught a video of the bug and some of my gear for you.
For the record this was a very good game - your best yet. I liked the idea, the art & sound effects. However I think there are some bugs and balance issues.
- I didn't have it this round but I think vampiric sword is very good.
- The end boss, whom I beat twice due to a bug, seemed to have a bug of his own (maybe related to my gear). I was dealing damage when I matched non-damaging tiles - for example, match some of his shield tiles, he takes damage. No other tiles matched.
- It is actually possible to swap the walls with blink scroll. This is a good trick to avoid Sigmund.
I might play again - it was fun. Thank you for making this.
Recommended next steps: Add mob drops
If Sigmund drops an item he will be much more worthwhile to fight and not just skip with a blink scroll.
End boss should drop a key, then door should open and you should have an end screen with a nice message for the player or an announcement that more of the game will come later.
This system is already in the game. All mobs currently drop nothing, but I can make them drop anything.

Playing another round. I got the vampirism sword so doing very well.
I think the damage calculations need to be more clear - it feels like there's a bug where I'm taking a ton of damage from a turtle, but it can just be that I don't see how the calculations are working. Maybe some animation/combat log which shows what is happening
I also have the player-replaced-by-gray-tile bug again.

Player-replaced-by-gray-tile and mob second life bug seems to occur when you walk directly on top of a mob who was standing next to you (but somehow did not start an encounter)
