i want to say yes but most of what of the thoughts i hear from my friends are super polarizing. they either hate it or love it like 60:40 but many of them dont keep playing lol. but i think atleast some part of that is due to the fact that the learning curve is pretty steep like dota (and people seem to prefer to play it in stacks like dota too)
I dont think it will but it would be super funny if it fails like Artifact

i dunno how much listening theyre doing but their feedback cycle is pretty comprehensive which is cool. i dont think artifact had any way to actually leave feedback
Valve has been trying to design these big community games but they miss out on the fact that if the game is not fun enough to draw a community for the medium/long term, it will just be impossible to play
You are competing for the friend groups that travel between games like this and since everyone's competing for those groups, you either get a big success like dota or just waste a bunch of money on a dead game
And tbh valve isn't really proven when it comes to making games like this, they made one game 20 years ago and dota was made by someone else/had that community that was always going to come join it.

i want to imagine artifact's death was preventable to some degree if someone had said something and someone else had listened. we all enjoyed it for its time so clearly there was something

It is a good game. I was playing it a lot prior to traveling around from Montana to Arkansas and now in california. I was making it in the top featured games with all the “high mmr” people that the fa gs in the discord like to suck off. But the games were competitive and fun. Initially playing it I wasn’t sold on it but when you sink enough hours into it to get like specific autistic knowledge on some hero you’re spamming so you know how to shit on kids it gets pretty fun. Right now is good too since the game is just coming out and everyone is still figuring out the best way to play the game, and valve does respond to feedback on the forums I’ve made feedback twice on the forums and they changed what I gave feedback on in the next patch both times. Not that what I was complaining about wasn’t noticed by other people as an issue but they do change shit based off of people complaining about dumb g ay shit like Yamato and gray talon.

If you liked dota and you have some actual fps shooter aiming ability the game is fun, there’s a good balance between just being able to run at people nonstop or if you want to be some farming robot just clearing the map and pushing lanes to get ahead in farm you can do that too
