Faz's Crypto Thread

Only if the US government fails.
I trust USD more than I trust ones and zeroes.

no i mean responding to what you said earlier your us dollar is as much a commodity as a crypto wallet it's just what vendors accept it. people accept the usd because we're important but it could change in the future

the crypto eats scam was pretty funny ngl

Agreed.
But it won't drop in value by 90% in a day like some cryptos do.

As a man who enjoys his psychoanalyses I see no problem in the criticism which is why I try to provide reasoning founded in the most rational sense possible. Otherwise I end up a fool as well

My investments are pretty non defi atm so I'm not a sunk coster like someone like jdance is. I've always loved economic disruption, this is just a promising form of it.

Go on, why do you think that

People pointing out anecdotes gets tiring after a while. That "some crypto lose 90% of it's value overnight" comment is like me saying why would you keep money in USD, you could lose all your money just like Zimbabwe. If you invest in a rugpull that's on you, and is no different from investing in existing MLM schemes. Atleast you can get Vector knives with no resale value with real life scam parities ig. Point still stands, who gives a duck about a dogecoin

A real product takes real effort to produce and has real value in real life.

A virtual product starts with no real value, is speculated up in price, and ends with no value.

Case in point.

See 'screw your loose understanding and anecodtes' argument posted earlier. Not worth wasting time on this, so I will leave you with the proverbial "get a clue"

You say a lot defending crypto for a person who doesn't invest in it.

Also I should mention this is overlooking that your argument is ad hoc given that tulips serve zero purpose and crypto does not. You are free to believe it does but atleast do your due diligence or youre just another fool

Lol. I hate when people are misguided and believe in it, feel free to judge me for it

Crypto has value for sure. It is the future of financial transactions.
But the coins will eventually die.

Yes many cryptos are truly just kids using pump and dump schemes and trying to gather large amounts of people together to drive a price up and hold it at a high price for as long as possible to cash out. But this isn’t just limited to crypto, look at GameStop or AMC stock that shit is literally a religion to some people with evil hedge funds trying to steal their gains and all types of crazy shit.

■■■ is speaking from the perspective of someone from within the DeFi or web3 community which is just almost ingrained with this scammy mindset however if you go to actual real projects like monero and talk to those people they are almost completely different and have a different mindset from most DeFi guys, in fact a lot of people who are involved with monero just write Ethereum off on principal due to the Ethereum dev team literally forking the blockchain in order to roll back transactions when one of their projects was hacked for millions of dollars.

You probably look at that as a positive however the idea of a blockchain as an irreversible chain of transactions is at the core of cryptocurrency or at least was when bitcoin was first developed, I think your idea of these emotional arguments keeping people in line with a crypto scam is valid and much of it applies to web3 tokens and the thousands of scammy shitcoins out there. But I would say that there are real projects where people are actually passionate about the technology or the idea of cryptocurrency in general and the feel of something like monero just isn’t seen in other shitcoins. Like you go in the IRC or whatever it’s not full of shit like price speculation or trying to convince people to hold or trying to come up with ways to market it to a wide audience to get more buyers to drive up the price, they’ve literally just been coding this open source project for years now improving on it year after year out of just a belief in the idea of crypto currency and anonymous transactions in general. I’m sure that is a rough generalization as some people are definitely trading it speculatively and people who own a large amount are motivated by self interests to make the price go up but the difference is clear when you consider that monero doesn’t really spend a ton of money on marketing or other shit, there are some ideas to get the coins name out there and adopted by web stores and people to use it as an actual currency, but it’s far different from a typical web3 coin which is probably spending a vast majority of the initial “investment” on paying social media influencers to shout it out on their Instagram investor page or whatever
