Student of history here
I hate to say it but the guy's a total moron and I'm tired of wasting my time talking to him
Hey, another example of SCOTUS making shit awful. Look up Exxon v. Baker: the case where they decided in 2008 that the punitive damages can't exceed compensatory damages. Compensatory damages are already far lower than they should be, because the standard of proof that something reduced your livelihood by x amount is insanely high.
Gamut, insom etc - fooled by a political trend in large part driven by toxic social media
Ewhizzer - violent lunatic motivated by a lifetime of "Fuck you, Dad!" energy who is never going to stop loudly spouting bad and wrong opinions and bullying the people who challenge him on them
This discussion - not worth anybody's time. Just examine the world honestly and avoid political garbage on social media, we'll see how everything works out a few years from now
insom is just a canadian i think
Gamut's also Canadian and they're both good guys just a little Canadian in the head
oh, that explains it.
canadians are really canadian when it comes to us stuff not sure why
It's because all they have is the media and twitter feeds
If you just watched twitter feeds all day you would think people are being murdered in the streets here
How many dozens, hundreds of mostly minority innocents need to be murdered on video by cops before the "justice system" brings them to justice? How many months, years, decades are required? You have so much faith in a system that has protected and continues to protect DOCUMENTED MURDERERS and it's straight up delusional.
"Martin Luther King wouldn't want you to set that courthouse on fire!"
I wonder if being fucking MURDERED would have changed his mind on that.
It's funny because this illustrates exactly the point I was making
People who follow social media believe (emotionally and logically) that hundreds or even thousands are murdered by cops here
There was some interview where they went around with a camera asking people how many black people are killed annually and people would be like.. uh... 1500?
Gamut without googling tell me the number of unarmed black people shot by police in the US in 2019
i also thought the number was higher than it was before i looked it up
i do believe cops are racist against black people and give them a lot of trouble though so im willing to take the shooting incidents as just very symbolic of that. also being shot is bad.
I agree. Being shot is really the worst.
This happened in May.

This cop is still on the job.
Answer the question. Without googling
id also like to know what you think of gun control
Nope. It's a lounge thread so I just quoted in there the only time I ever said "immune" or framed it in a way that wasn't about minimal risk.
Complete fucking dumbshit. You can look at indices and make claims about HFs in the aggregate.
It's incredibly lucrative when there is almost no risk of short-term loss and it's used to diversify your portfolio, which is what I always claimed it was. And, over the past 13 years, they've had larger returns than any EW index fund or normal index fund. If you look back to 1970, any time period from then to now they've had a higher ROI.
Nope. HFs are specifically designed for risk mitigation to get as close to absolute returns as possible. In general, they have a specific risk analyst who doesn't get to touch or know any investments and calculates things based on specific metrics that are not derived from market indices. This is how they achieve a lack of correlation with the market, something that you don't understand apparently.
Far higher returns in the long-term.
Cherry picking examples. Very nice.
Only a fucking moron would make claims about something like "hedge funds" with specific examples rather than looking at aggregates and indices.
The guy in the video you linked answered the door with a gun
That doesn't mean I don't think it was awful that he was shot and the cops totally mishandled the situation, but I think the way you presented it totally misrepresents the situation.
And for the record I posted that vid in this thread already. As a condemnation of cops
