also i dont think that take is legit because mass shootings (the kind that is glorified) accounts for a tiny fraction of gun violence. suppose the media shuts up and mass shootings never happen again; barely anything changes.
arguably media coverage is good cuz it scars the country and convinces people theres a problem. or, alternatively, if you dont think theres a problem, then media coverage is bad cuz they are just cherrypicking unrepresentative incidents.
i think the real issue is poverty.
