have you tried amphetamine salts, blue gatorade, marb reds and some andy capp hot fries tho?
have you tried genuinely caring about anything
don't listen to her be a judgy judy, listen to this.
but this one is for @Event_Horizon
I donāt understand the question.
I donāt think there's any part of my life that I donāt care about in some way. My wife and family affect me the most and I have good relationships with them. The only thing I'm ambivalent about engaging with is my job, but I still care about having money.
Let's put together a list of all the Pushers (formerly goyclub) and vote on a ranking.
well you blanket said everything (all the sweeping life achievements) have fallen flat and hollow
and what does that mean if you genuinely care about many of these things. as you are now saying?
I guess itās hard to explain. Life feels empty and unrewarding while being full of meaningful things. I didnāt mean that the things themselves are hollow.
Iām trying art next and after that will be having a kid (good luck to them)
Has caring about things cured your depressive tendencies?
How about some excitement? Try skydiving.

i think this is helpful and more relatable. but i still feel that the conflict is maybe more macro level? what youāre describing, i mean, - maybe?
I get where youāre coming from but idk. I spent a long time seeing a good therapist and towards the end there just wasnāt anything to talk about. She sent me to a psychiatrist because she couldnāt think of any more behavioral changes to make or traumas to dissect or whatever else. She kept getting worried I was gonna kill myself even though I never talked about killing myself. That was a couple months ago, now I'm on duloxetine 60mg and the only change is that itās pretty hard to bust. I still believe the future is bright.
despite your pettiness, i would not say that the things i care about arenāt the answer iām looking for.
which is to say that i think if i didnāt have things i care deeply about iām not sure that i would be lessened of the hollowness of life, but that, instead, caring about things might create tougher bouts of struggle, but provide more meaning towards the challenges that are faced, themselves.
but there may also be a path in there for people who struggle less with depth or purpose and with hollowness and so forth as well. hard to say, i think a lot comes down to frameworks/infrastructures available. life is a complex network of systems.
hmm this is interesting and complicated, thank you for sharing.
There was no intention of pettiness from my end, so my apologies if it read that way. Though it was a bit confrontational no doubt. I found myself annoyed at the idea that upon seeing someone sorta open up about a very relatable, very human struggle. The notion that he simply doesn't truly care about anything, I took some issue with.
If he didn't care he wouldn't see it as a problem worth musing about, that he desires to feel more fulfilled and by proxy be a better partner to the wife we can safely assume he "really cares" about.
All that to say I don't believe you are wrong, if the concepts of right or wrong can even be applicable in this kind of thing. The real care you give, may give you a sense of purpose and fulfilment to avoid hollowness.
It just ended up for me reading like "have you tried just not being sad" to someone giving the dsm definition for clinical depression. Which likely only bothered me because it kinda perpetuates something the depression feeds on. That everyone else has it figured out and the flaw or issue is entirely on oneself.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel you should be able to better relate to and meet him on that level. That it presents yourself as someone who has it together, doesn't struggle and is not bothered by existential dread of sorts. Similar to how social media can feed the negative aspects of depression, people only show you what they want you to see.
Not saying you need to overshare, talk over someone else or even really elaborate on your own struggle. Just acknowledgment of understanding, in doing so show some of that real care and empathy you frequently speak about.
