yeah i looked those up but i think they're weaker than these

think pathway is weaker than the other modal lands

that said im not really thinking of the consequences of a shock land-less standard

Yeah, standard is definitely going to be a lot less greedy about dual color and tri color may die completely. The modals with other card types are super dependent on the other card, but for Mana fixing are strictly worse because the land comes in tapped.

i dont think tricolor will die
there are still temples and ramp cards and the trilands

like jund and sultai are probably fine

I always forget about temples. But untapped with multiple colors disappearing will shift a lot of focus away from tris. I'd guess Mana bases will integrate a bunch of the more inefficient Mana rocks (like the 3 cost lockets) to start to deal with it, but tricolor decks will have to be slower no matter what

i think most of the 3 color decks are mainly 2 colors and dipping a third for certain things
jund dipping for mayhem devil and claim
sultai dipping for good removal

also a bunch of cards will be gone with rotation so maybe there wont even be as good payoffs in tricolor

Then the untapped modal duals are definitely hot shit for those decks. Grab the dip Mana if you don't have it yet, or put down one of the main two if you don't need more dip. It's the perfect use case for them.

The tapped other type modals seem like a completely different use case: they can count as a land for your Mana base but in tons of games can basically function as an extra card in your deck

Ye I was thinking real historic focused where lands weren’t gonna be rotating out

These will be good also cuz they’re untapped

Oh yeah, for historic they're super meh with all the fetchable and more flexible untapped duals available. Will probably fill some budget slots in decks and probably show up in EDH because of the singleton rule

When you blink the modals, they come back as the designated front face, which is the non-land face. So you play this shit as a land then blink it for a free 4/5 trample

Any of the permanent modal lands are going to be broken

UR blink kekw

I could see it in Jeskai or even RW. For Jeskai or izzet, pop a teferi's time twist end step before your turn 3 and you've got a 6/5 trample swinging turn 3 without any ramp. Seems dirty

Except it dies to any removal and you just unramped

UR blink has birthed some very degen decks in our playgroup. Cheat red shit in for free/cheap with an "exile/sac at the beginning of the next end phase" and then blink it out to avoid that. Love to see like a turn 3/4 blightstee or drakuseth come out for 2/3 Mana then not have it go away after that turn. Good fucking shit jesus christ I hate that deck

Just blink or bounce it when it's gonna die lol. And you lose one turn of Mana to get out a 6 cost swinging with trample on turn 3.

Yeah I mean it being 6 cost is cuz of stuff like this the 4/5 trampler isn’t really a 6 mana card
