Then? I move on to algebra
I'm gonna have a good grade in calc while struggling in whatever 7th grade AoPS class I can already tell
Calculus is hard but it is very rewarding when it all starts to make sense.
Nah it ain't gonna be hard
This is going around social media. Can you math nerds teach me the correct order of operations. The way I was taught in school has me thinking this is 9. Others say it is 1.
parens first then 6 / 2 * 3 is always gonna be L-R since mult + div have equal precedence so its unforutnatley 9
thats what I have been saying but apparently there is big disagreement
i think people misuse the PEMDAS thign to say multiplication first
It isn't always left to right. The order in which you do multiplication and division is independent of getting a correct answer.
This problem is ambiguous because it uses the dogshit division sign, which no math past like algebra 2 uses, instead of a fraction and doesn't make parentheses explicit. Either answer is correct.
In this case, I'd default to 1, as using an explicit division sign but then no multiplication sign would signal to use the distributive property
huh i was 100% taught for equal prio you go left to right. and a quick google also says that
Edit: but a deeper google says it doesnt matter
i know a computer would say its 9 since they go left to right. doesn't mean its right though.
it is really poorly written though. the intent of the equation is super unclear.
alright so I learned fuck division signs.
Yeah, when I see multiplication without a sign over a parentheses, I always default to the distributive property first. The notation is incorrect for the problem, so either answer is correct
Mind your decisions.
just gotta say waht kinda asshole sits around and comes up with dubious pemdas shit like this to post on social medias?
idk lol someone with way too much free time
