The most annoying part about Ultimate dropping is that all these âlocal esports organizationsâ are DMing me and asking me if I want to run tournaments for them. When I ask them how much theyâll pay me they tell me that itâll be worth it just for the publicity.

I ran a big S4 tourney here that went really well so people just started assuming I TO everything. Most people are super nice about it and itâs started to reap benefits, but like⌠Iâm not doing this shit for free lmao, especially for a game I donât play.

that shit is so perplexing to me. if youâd go so far for a cheap host that youâd take anyone how would you know your tournament wouldnt be complete ass? what obligation does a guy who got preemptively stiffed have to make sure he doesnt like ruin the tournament location or something lol
People honestly donât really care - if you have a venue and can get community setups you can make a decent amount of money - I know that when I was first getting involved there was a TO who made 1-1.5k for his bimonthly events that he just pocketed and claimed he was giving it to the community. These people ran AWFUL tournaments, but if you have new people they donât really know any better. Some people are just looking for suckers so that they can make a quick buck.
Fuck, I just ran a Project M only Charity Event in bumfuck upstate NY and got 61 entrants and made 900+ dollars in venue that I could have easily just pocketed (itâs going to charity, but it made me realize how easy it is to just make ez money).
When I say awful tournaments, I mean he would take 10 hours to run a 60 person double elim bracket. He would lose a game to you in singles, pause the set to take entrants for 30 minutes, and then come back when you were both cold and win. Like total sleazeball scumbag horribly run events and they would still make bank.
