As a protective measure so you don't kill yourself immediately on discharge and have them lose their job.

It's natural (not mental illness) to have some sort of reaction to the experience jdance had. I do think he went a little overboard (esp with the checking into a hospital, not eating the cookie bits) - probably for attention. But he's getting out now and turning a new leaf on the acting out on the internet for attention front so I think we should all applaud him for that
