iaafr what do you think about chunking express or other wong kar wai films
it's probably a product of the times and so much more media produced and consumed nowadays but older films usually have a bit more substance to them. doesn't make them better but they often leave a longer lasting impression on me
haven't watched, no opinion
my knowledge of films is extremely spotty in general
i liked chunking express and in the mood for love, would recommend either of them to everyone but i dunno how people feel about foreign or chinese film
I just like Amelie, tanpopo, charlie Kaufman films (except synecdoche), and the first half of gangs of new York
that's p much it the rest is trash
the only Chinese films I've watched are the ip man series (watchable but shallow but cool fighting ig) and Steven chow movies (Shaolin soccer and kung Fu hustle are both not as funny as people seem to think)
yeah goodfellas, raging bull, and casino all are very overrated imo
just kind of empty movies with no soul and nothing to say
I really love The Departed though that’s my favourite Scorsese movie, and Silence looks good
Monty python and the holy grail is legitimate trash. Space balls was horrible
Monty Python quoting is like
alright I'm not gonna antagonize too much but Jesus, normies
Best movie of all time is probably some movie in the scary movie series
haven't watched Spaceballs but haven't watched a single star wars film either
Yi Yi looks like a very good Chinese film I’ve been meaning to watch
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is great too
rush hour 2 was the best Chinese film
I was high when I watched it which would make you think it would be funny
I think Life of Brian is a lot better than the holy grail
Eurotrip is honestly up there in my list
I don’t think it’s trash I think it has a few really funny scenes and a lot of bad ones as well
I don't actually dislike the Monty Python movies, but the way the holy grail gets culturally treated
idk it triggers my contrarianness or some shit
