Made me cry twice (I never cry)

Nvm not going to see it

Why not? Take your girlfriend

that's an A24 movie right? I love everything they do

I saw the trailer a while back and thought it looked interesting

most emotionally powerful scene of all time

I'm not going to watch this so I am unable to agree with you

just rewarched the revenant and I think myself and others were too hard on it

I’ve become more of a simp for gorgeous cinematography lately though

the super long one take battle scene where the natives ambush the fur traders is a masterclass

from a filmmaking pov this is close to perfection

in my eyes nothing will ever touch children of men when it comes to long take scenes however

well in this scene it’s more a collective of 25-30 second shots but it works so so well here

It is a great movie I think people just thought the plot was kinda empty

that's true but I’d argue a movie doesn’t necessarily need one to be considered great

best example is 2001

not that the revenant is even close to 2001

my biggest problem with the revenant was that I just didn’t really care about any of the characters when the movie clearly wanted me to

Prolly the lack of exposition. I do agree to some extent, I just remember recognizing in the theatre that I was getting bored of the movie and it wasn't because of the action

It's kind of like one of those fables, super straight forward and pretty much predictable. It affects my ability to enjoy a movie but maybe not you and ian

no I agree for sure, it’s more that now that I care about cinematography more and actively think about it as I watch movies I enjoyed it a lot more than the first time
