It's a basic sociological chain reaction, you can't expect people to stay after top stars like Arteezy or whatever stop posting because they became tier 1 celebrities.
you're the one being reductive, moving the goalposts and saying that's the reason why people left. it's not.
post quality was by far the main issue
Incredible. This vague and undefined metric of "post quality" is not reductive at all. You know someone saying "post quality" could be interpreted as anything, right?
The people they like leave -> "Oh the posts are not as good anymore. The post quality went down! I don't know why."
anyway that's not even my main point here. it just ties in to the fact that I genuinely have no desire to post on a website with jones, and I'm justified in feeling that way. something many other people have felt about jones, or people like jones, for a long time. on nadota they were AT LEAST dealt with in some way, which is why said people stayed "until the very end"
this place in comparison may as well be a 4chan board
i literally said people like you and jones are the reason why
when people like that get punished for their actions, there's at least a vague shadow of credibility that certain more serious people genuinely need to be willing to engage with a website
if they think that person x y or z will be able to post whatever verbal sludge they want until the end of time, it's pretty off-putting, compared to feeling like that person at least certain lines they cannot cross and will be punished for if they do
You're misreading my post. For you it could be that, but many others simply just can't define or pinpoint the ethereal "quality of the posts".
Again, most people were there for the NA DotA-related players, drama, and discussion. Once the top players started leaving, others followed.
You can point at the people that DIDN'T leave and go "Oh! It must've been their fault!", but that's logically fallacious.
and ■■■, perma-banning him wasn't the only thing you could have done. you could have deleted his posts. you could have time banned him.
having asoul basically siding with jones in the thread is a horrific look. he should have been unmodded for that.
these are the type of things you could have done
Yes, you are surely justified to feel however you want and that's fine, but stop speaking for other people en masse and trying to turn it into something bigger than it is, you don't want jones around and he's now gone.
Be the bigger man.
i'm not speaking for them I genuinely fucking remember shit. I have a good memory when it comes to long term stuff and I was a member of nadota since the very first fucking month in 2010.
and you're sitting here disagreeing with my version of events as if yours is more accurate? nah
No, I'm giving you a logical explanation to what your vaguely defined memories are saying. You're giving an extremely blurry representation of the events.
I never said I even had a memory of the events, I told you I signed up in mid-late 2017.
why didn't I name GrandgranT as someone who left because of post quality? because that wasn't the reason, he left as soon as his professional career/stream kicked off.
but SO MANY other people did. not people i can remember the name of off the top of my head, but the type of people that made the website worth reading, the type of people who out ratio'd goy-type posts, or broodstar unhinged ranting posts, or whatever else
if you don't want to believe me go ahead lol, i'm telling you what happened
You literally gave the reason in your own post just now.
They left because grant left, bulba left, arteezy left, and everyone else. Why the fuck would anyone stay on a dota website where all the dota players left?
no, not just because of those three people, they left because EVERYBODY who got turned off by goyspam left, which as it turns out was lots of fucking people
obviously I was referring to more than literally three people, get real
and arteezy was never an active poster, not once, you saying him "not posting" drove people away just shows how ignorant you actually are
Are you seriously trying to strawman me into saying that it's "just those three people"? Everyone you can name probably quit playing dota or high level inhouse leagues way before 2017.
my being right or wrong doesn't depend on how many people I can name drop off the top of my head at 2:42 in the morning
