Neptune's Pride

yeah im gonna need it with this fukcer knocking on my door:

But it's okay I'm the Centrist Christopher Columbus:

Hopefully there's some juicy stars in there

I think Moron is cheating or sharing tech in a big way. Your best bet is to go to the center.

He's in league with the equally powerful Ungoliant

Your push to the center is working. Your only threat is Grasshopper. Truce with him and you are green.

I need Range 5 to get there. Not happening soon.

Ungoliant is also sharing tech with Ur Quan to the south.

Considering ruining this thread

i'm pretty much cooked at this point

Yeah me too. I have a great ally, but Ungoliant and his buddy are super strong.

this guy attacked me with level 6 weapons as I was finishing off Andywgf and took advantage of the situation

i might be able to hold him off for now, but not for long

and now it looks like fucking grasshopper is going to own the center

This is me getting spit roasted:

Maybe we can meet in the middle if I survive. But I doubt it. Ungoliant and his buddy have over 3 time my economy each.

I'm going to try and build up a little corner pocket, we'll see if that's defensible against oneye & grasshopper

Corner pocket strat was a complete failure and so now I'm making a last stand @ Heze and sent out a come at me bro message to oneeye, Grasshopper, King of All Morons & Wasse

LOL you renamed it The Last Stand. Good luck.

I am getting humped and I'm about ready to gift all my money to my only ally.

I joined the next 32 man game, going to prioritize things a bit differently to hopefully scale more quickly

See my post about the same thing.

You can definitely get by in the beginning dumping your money into high amounts of econ due to how weapons scale in the beginning and how good the defender advantage is, but I noticed a lot of people in the last game going 4 science first turn.

I tried to research experimentation first with the idea that you have the potential to get a free level 2 technology every production cycle after that, but that didn't work out too well as it's too random.

I waited way too long to get at least one point in banking because I was gambling that experimentation might take care of it. I'm going to focus more on ramping up manufacturing early this game.

Not sure that's a good idea.

Manufacturing
A star produces Y*(X+5) ships every 24 ticks where X is your manufacturing tech level and Y is the amount of industry at a star.

So Weapons 2 is 2 times better than Weapons 1.
But Manufacturing 2 is 1.2 times better than Manufacturing 2.
Weapons seems better by my math.

Yeah the first point in weapons is super strong, but I'm not sure it's worth it unless there's some valuable stars in close proximity you want to acquire.

The +1 defender advantage means you're still only trading @ parity once you get weapons 2

I think the most important thing is to get allies.

Send messages to the left and right.
If they accept, put everything in economy and science.
If one refuses, contact their other neighbor and propose an alliance to hit them from both sides.

The guy kicking my ass had three allies early, all trading tech. Meanwhile, both my neighbors attacked me right out of the gate.
