Iâm not saying that they donât know their games are going stagnant. Read into valve/gabens business philosophy. Every game that valve makes is to tote a service or a feature or idea, theyâve always been like this. Dota 3 might happen eventually but if it does itâs going to be for a reason. A lot of our favorite games were basically source engine and platform ads.
Theyâll make dota 3 if/when they see something that they consider a dropped ball or potential long term revenue to be made over League. They mightâve made it to tote tech before but now CS is clearly the series theyâd choose for say, source 3 or something.
Unfortunately MOBAs are going the way of the mammoth and it would be suicidal to gamble on them (or stupid given how deadlock is going)
If you havenât noticed valve used to be much more of a software company (toting the Steam Network, Source Engine, etc) but as of late theyâre much more hardware oriented, because they see (and are making money from) consumer value in that. As a result, valve is putting less effort into original software development and will continue to do so unless they see a big reason not to. Dotas stagnated but it also makes shit revenue compared to everything else they do and unfortunately that gives dota the âunconsidered stepchildâ role
