Official NADota Sane-Off

There are applicable mathematical patterns all around us.

So as a 35 year old you can date a 25 year old but at 37 you can only date down to 36?

That doesn't seem right.

It completely solves all ethical dilemmas.

Go ahead and provide your schema.

I believe the old-school formula was age / 2 + 7

the made up creepiness formula i always heard was no lower than (age/2)+7 aswell

I am not dating a 22 year old.

My framework is superior

damn that made up rule dates back to early 1900s interesting

I think any 24 year olds dating 16 year olds raises some ethical concerns.

Nope. That is completely morally and ethically permissible.

Word

Maybe you're actually a libertarian and didn't know it.

I don't care. I wanted to ask about those sites. I think they are distinct. A talkative bus ride may be social media too, but that isn't what I wanted to ask about.

If you want to ask about discord use, you are welcome to add a question.

I felt that if we want to justify exclusions, then we have to denote the missing piece that separates them from the others. I found it a little interesting cause I hadn't really thought about it before. I felt the average use of all of those platforms would more closer fit your description of cliques in one place to socialize. You choose who you follow/friend and share stuff with or perhaps have group chats that function the same as discord servers/channels/DMs, maybe they are even dedicated entirely to one topic/niche. I think only on twitter (of the big ones) is it common place to shout into the void of the entire internet, but plenty of people only interact with those they follow and their own followers.

While just something that you can be social on might be too broad. It certainly just read like people wanted to excuse themselves by excluding things they do use, potentially because they have a mental image of a social media addicted individual that they see themselves as better than. Avoiding all "social media" is more akin to not having a phone or internet access at this point.

Its certainly a lot harder to doom scroll here, or discord, messenger etc. Perhaps a better question than would be how often you spend passively scrolling content i.e. shorts/reels/tiktok, insta/twitter feeds. Shit posting could be a secondary question, its active and would also include things like here/discord and other chat apps.

what? social media is definitionally where you are forced to see other people who have better lives than you (more pretty, more friends, more money)

obviously when you are jones and nmagane and lemon and all of those unemployed losers sitting in teamspeak or discord, it isn't "social media"

its a bunch of lame losers talking to each other when nobody else is willing to

social media creates depression

discord creates inceldom

they arent even REMOTELY the same phenomena

You misunderstood me. I was distinguishing social media FROM cliques gathering to socialize. Not as.
