They made it a national bill? See this is what I am saying, your issue is a fundamental misunderstanding of the American govt

Reread what I wrote. The supreme court does not "make a national bill"

You are describing the role of congress.

If that's the case why didn't they do it in the last 4 years? Why didn't they do it with control of all 3 branches under Obama?

  1. WIFOM.
  2. Roe wasn't overturned.

Can you clarify who "we" is in this situation

If they don't jubilee my student debt away the government is going to collapse.

That's the level of analysis antdude is capable of making.

Roe was considered illegal since its inception and was a common talking point for conservatives when it comes to the supreme court

It's sensible to anticipate that a conservative supreme court will overturn it. This conservative supreme court was in place since the middle of Trump's term - they had all of Biden's term to do something about it

It's actually a very simple thing to write legislation in congress which says exactly what the supreme court said, and in this way make their "interpretation" of the law legal/prevent it from being overturned on appeal

And this generally would have been politically more possible than the situation they face now, since they'd just have to say "We are encoding in law the exact things the federal govt is already enforcing." they could even hide it in a bill that seems to minorly change some small detail, but lays out clearly these guidelines the supreme court wrote in the proper way

The truth is the Democratic Party is a failure. They are incompetent. They don't do any of these things, they can't find any candidates that the public actually likes, they have completely lost their connection to their roots in the US (the party of the "working man" is now the Republican party) - the only identity they have left is one of catering to corporate big donors and drumming up support for non-starter social issues like trans rights

DNC needs their own Trump - someone who connects with people. They had this in Bernie and threw it away because they needed to keep corporate happy. Putting candidates like HRC and Kamala in front of people simply doesnt work and they look frozen in the face of someone like Trump
