The only thing I can think of immediately is somehow the SK thought Benny was going to out him to try to appear town.

I snapped at lynching jdance because Benny accused jdance of being SK, but that is wrong after the events of N1.
Benny was clearly going for the “I’m right about every lynch as scum” strategy so that made sense at the time.
