i'm not pro it i think it's a fucked up practice, but it does make them more attractive to me
especially how in south korea it's an extremely common graduation gift for highschool studens (male and female) and has become seen as this status symbol and thing that will help your whole career and rest of your life. it's fucked
but really, from the outside looking in it just seems like there is a massive list of relatively harmless things that bother you or you have really sinister explanations for. it's a classic sign of depression (extremely pessimistic worldview and seeing the worst in people everywhere you look). if you feel that way about travelling i'm willing to bet you feel that way about philanthropy and many other relatively harmless things. even genuinely good things can become "just virtue signalling from social media addicted blaH BLAH Blah whatever". seeing someone take a selfie in public ushers in a slew of thoughts about social media algorithms and the decline of the modern attention span and whatnot. i know very well because I used to be this way to the extreme (albeit probably about somewhat different issues. the cell phone thing was 100% true for me though)
it doesn't even mean everything you feel that way about is wrong, some of those things are actually true which makes this type of view 1000% more convincing and hard to shake, because you see affirmation of your beliefs with each new scandal that breaks
you see the TINY minority of trans kids taking some hormones which has a radically high success rate in improving their mental health, and you see sick and sadistic doctors performing evil experiments on unsuspecting children. idk mAN

yes i have, i stayed with my friend in seattle who lived in section 8 housing for a week. i actually have lived that experience, albeit only for a week. we were like the only two white people in the whole place, it was like 30 miles south of seattle in some shitty area.

i was bullied ruthlessly by the literal only native kid in my entire school, for like 3 years when i was 8 years old. the prick was 1 year older than me too.
then years later when i was like 13 another native kid tried to, and almost succeeded in drowning me in a public pool for LITERALLY no reason whatsoever. i still don't hate native people or view them as inferior.
obviously our lived experiences are going to be different and i'm genuinely sorry yours have been so challenging, but you can still choose how to react to it and what your own beliefs are, you are the one in control of that
