Exactly how many pizzas are you familiar with where the crust is uniform temperature with the rest of the pie? You’re grasping and it’s obvious. There is nothing wrong with a “tepid” crust - and that’s not even how I would describe it.

Tepid means not quite hot enough, esp. when applied to a crust that’s been delivered late and has too much condensation on it. That’s why papa johns has been disgusting to me.

Ah so we are getting somewhere. You say the temperature is the problem - the fault of the delivery boy, not the pizza. So you admit that a fresh Papa’s pie isn’t as bad as you are making it seem then
It is not the fault of the delivery boy. While I have yet to eat a Papa’s pie in store, I feel like their cooling off regimen for the pies is compromising. No other pizza place lets their pies, or maintains that their pizzas cool off for that long. Even with carry out I see them leave my pizza out, probably to avoid burn lawsuits, and ruin the pizza itself.
Let’s stick with this and not my distaste for their refusal to bake their crust well done.
If you really need to know, my experience early on with delivery pizza was having Domino’s cheese or veg pizza well done with sriracha sauce. This was the “thing” with my mom’s coworkers, who were specialist doctors with their kids in my day care

Alas, it appears this argument is at an impasse. I have no issue letting this debate die here, as I know in the future we will have an objective scale for judging pizza quality, and that there will be a Wikipedia entry on “mob mentality and Papa Johns’ near closure”. So I defer until then.
